POSITION:IT SPECIALIST
DEPARTMENT: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
STARTING BI-WEEKLY RATE: $1,646.12

Due to unforeseen technical issues and complications with the on-line application process, the IT Specialist job application deadline has been extended to February 15th. DESCRIPTION:

  • Performs responsible work within the IT department planning, developing, organizing and coordination of the City’s public information program and IT system support. Incumbent ensures that verified information flows to the public, employees, other governments and additional persons as necessary. Employee aids in use of social media, hardware and software issues and helpdesk questions.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Writes and assists others in preparing and distributing information in the form of memos, newsletters, reports, brochures, fliers, etc.; creates or acquires graphics, photos and/or video as needed.
  • Creates and distributes news releases and articles; performing research and gathering data for publications.
  • Maintains social media site for City; aids members of staff maintaining related City accounts (Park, Police Community Resource). Communicate and coordinate a unified message throughout all City media outlets.
  • Creates, reviews and maintains City of Archdale website; ensures information is professional in appearance, content is appropriate and up to date.
  • Produces and keeps City PEG channel (ATV8) relevant; ensures content is current and meaningful
  • Composes FYI Archdale quarterly newsletter four times per year; producing special additions as needed or requested.
  • Maintains image, audio and graphics compilations for the City.
  • Serves as point of contact for media outlets and responds to public information requests.
  • Provides informational support and technical guidance to the City Manager or others during communications presentations.
  • Provides training and support to staff on use of new hardware/software and social media. Helps to implement software, “check-in/check-out” with hardware setups.
  • Participates in the planning, development and implementation of a marketing and branding program for the City.
  • Serves as a helpdesk coordinator for staff IT issues; work with fellow IT staff to maintain timely service levels. Works to ensure things that breaks are fixed in a timely manner.
  • Works with other IT staff members on various projects and tasks.
  • Performs other duties as required; assists with special projects as assigned.

EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related major and some responsible computer experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. A strong understanding of computer systems and experience with servers, desktops and peripheral troubleshooting in a network environment is highly desirable. Experience with Microsoft Office 365, IT system troubleshooting, and hardware installation is necessary. A valid North Carolina Class C driver license with a safe driving record. Ability to work outside of regular hours during installations, backups or crisis issues. Must be able to successfully pass NCIC background check.

POSITION:POLICE OFFICER I
DEPARTMENT: POLICE
PAY RANGE: $37,482 – $55,457 ANNUALLY + $1,000 Sign-on bonus.

DESCRIPTION:

  • Performs general duty law enforcement work in the City’s Police Department.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Operates a patrol car to observe for violations of laws, suspicious activities or persons, and disturbances of law and order in the City.
  • Operates two-way radio to receive instructions and responds to radio dispatches and answers calls and complaints.
  • Serves warrants, summons, subpoenas, court orders and makes arrests; testifies in court.
  • Enforces laws such as motor vehicle, criminal, domestic violence, drug enforcement, civil citations, etc.
  • Performs preliminary investigations of accidents, complaints, and crimes; secures crime scene; identifies and gathers initial statements from witnesses and informants; and debriefs and prepares reports for the Police Detective.
  • Completes incident reports, police reports, and other necessary paperwork associated with arrests and violations; maintains vehicle logs for gas and mileage.
  • Provides the public with information on law enforcement, criminal incidents, and directions.
  • Performs related work as assigned.

EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduation from high school; or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. A valid North Carolina Class C driver license with a safe driving record. Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) certificate issued by the State of NC.
    **A lateral transfer from another agency with like duties and a minimum of three years experience will be considered for appointment above the Police Officer I entry level salary.**

POSITION: AFTER SCHOOL COUNSELOR (SEASONAL)
DEPARTMENT: PARKS AND REC
PAY RATE: $7.25 per hour.

DESCRIPTION:

  • The After School Counselor is responsible for planning, leading, and implementing core and non-core programs and experiences for children in a small group setting. They will also be responsible for the general safety and development, growth, and skill achievement of the participants in his/her group. The incumbent will provide high quality outdoor educational and recreational experiences for participants..

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Upon hire, completion Park provided First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Education classes or experience in youth programs, recreation, working with children, or in a related field.
  • Ability to lead, plan, organize, and implement program activities.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and the ability to accomplish tasks with little direct supervision.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Possess ability to make decisions that align with the mission and departmental goals with regards to child care.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Help write and implement a weekly schedule for your group.
  • Organize and lead a variety of small and large group activities each week. Activities may include crafts, nature, songs, games, etc. This includes time spent on the bus.
  • Identify and respond to participant behavior issues.
  • Ensure that the site is kept clean, organized, and free of litter.
  • Communicate with parents about participant’s experiences and report concerns to Park Leadership.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate program records including incident reports and daily attendance.
  • Know and understand ALL emergency procedures associated with the program.
  • Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the and all program areas. This includes but is not limited to being responsible for your participants’ safety and their whereabouts at all times.
  • Help guide Junior Counselors and Volunteers to have a deeper understanding of leadership and counseling skills..

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must have the physical ability to lead and participate in activities which include, but are not limited to, hiking, canoeing, swimming, team building initiatives, physical games, and activities.
  • Must have the ability to physically support children when needed for safety in general activities (child weighing 50 – 200 pounds).
